General Information

Side-channel analysis (SCA) and implementation attacks have become an important field of research at universities and in the industry. In order to enhance the resistance of cryptographic and security critical implementations within the design phase, constructive attacks and analyzing techniques may serve as a quality metric to optimize the design and development process. Since 2010, COSADE provides an international platform for researchers, academics, and industry participants to present their work and their current research topics. It is an excellent opportunity to exchange on new results with international experts and to initiate new collaborations and information exchange at a professional level. The workshop will feature both invited presentations and contributed talks.

COSADE is a two-days workshop focused on the topic of Constructive Side-Channel Analysis and Secure Design. The workshop will take place in Singapore on April 23th and 24th, 2018. COSADE ’18 will be co-located with EMERTECH’18 (April 25th, 2018) and One-day Tutorial Workshop offered by Secure-IC (April 25th, 2018). Click here for more info.

COSADE’18 is organized by Fraunhofer Singapore and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

The workshop is held in cooperation with International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR).

The topics of COSADE 2018 include, but are not limited to:

  • Side channel analysis and countermeasures
  • Fault analysis and countermeasures
  • Security models and formal analysis of secure implementations
  • Cache-attacks and micro-architectural analysis
  • Software interface enabled implementation attacks
  • Leakage resilient cryptography
  • Methodologies and tools for secure design and evaluation
  • White-box cryptography
  • Secure implementation of post-quantum cryptography
  • Secure implementation of lightweight cryptography
  • System security (secure boot, secure execution, secure storage, secure firmware update, etc.)
  • Trusted Execution Environment
  • Security analysis of real-world systems (IoT, home automation, automotive, industrial control, etc.)
  • Security analysis methods using artificial intelligence

Instructions for authors

Submitted papers should present novel contributions related to the topics listed above. They must be original, unpublished, anonymous and not submitted to another conference or journal for consideration of publication. Papers must be written in English, strictly follow Springer LNCS format (see http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html, with default margins, font size, etc.), and they should not exceed 15 pages excluding bibliography. Submissions not meeting these guidelines risk rejection without consideration of their merits. All submissions will be blind-refereed. Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts (in PDF format) by filling in the submission form available on the following Easy Chair Conference Submission Website.

Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper at the workshop.

The proceedings will be published as a Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science volume.

Important Dates

  • Submission deadline: 8 December 2017 (23:59 AoE (anywhere on earth))
    • Submission deadline extension:  12 December 2017 (23:59 AoE)
    • updates possible until: 14 December 2017 (23:59 AoE)
  • Notification: 29 January 2018
  • Final version: 12 February 2018
  • Workshop: 23 – 24 April 2018

Due to several kind requests, we have decided to extend the deadline for contributions. The new deadline is: 12 December 2017, updates are possible until 14 December 2017. This is a firm deadline.
